On the afternoon of October 12, the School of International Education organized a lively and interesting English salon activity in Smart Classroom 311. Richard, a foreign teacher, brought us a project-based teaching lecture.
Richard introduced in detail how he used shadowtalking to carry out oral English teaching in his class, and demonstrated how to use shadowtalking in oral English teaching to everyone present. The teachers who participated in salon all confessed that they really benefited a lot from the lecture.
In the salon, the attending teachers also talked about that in the digital era, great changes have taken place in learning. The focus of learning is no longer limited to memorizing knowledge but to be able to apply the knowledge learned in a new environment. Accordingly, classroom management, evaluation strategies, and even the arrangement of learning space need to be adjusted. The role of a teacher should be changed from an expert in the classroom to a knowledgeable instructor or facilitator. The focus of teaching should be to guide students to establish the habit of lifelong learning, so as to make adequate preparations for better fulfilling their civic obligations and being competent for their future jobs.
In project-based teaching, exploring scientific and effective teaching methods is an important link in the process of teaching reform, which requires teachers to spend more time and make more efforts. It is hoped that through this salon, teachers can form a sharing mechanism, introduce better teaching strategies and provide successful cases, so as to help the healthy development of project-based teaching and further improve the effectiveness of vocational English teaching.
